As were the Cocteaus. Curiously I meant to add this one the other day, originally produced by Alan Rankine who died today. The CT's didn't like Rankine's production work, choosing to produce themselves for most of their further career. Anyway this has nowt to do with Rankine, and is better than the regular mix. As is common with Peel sessions.
I knew OMD were originally a four piece rather than the duo of Andy and Paul, but I've not seen video footage featuring "the other two" apart from on Messages. I'll have to research further...
Between Finitribe's industrial era and their techno era, they issued an album 'Grossing 10K' which legend says sold just 250 copies on release. In fairness it was pretty abysmal in part, but with some definite hints towards future excellence. This one was a crazy mix of terrible lyrics, reasonable acid house and traditional 'Finitribe piano' sound. It was a dig at MacDonald's who as veggies they loathed at the time. They even used to organise demonstrations outside MacDonald's restaurants, the daft feckers. Anyway, a bit of fun if nothing else and better than the Meat Is Murder title track...
It should have been Blue Monday but we had that one last Blue Monday, so here's an earlier New Order tune featuring their new found dance credentials. I have been known to dance round the living room like a demented loon to this, not in company obvs.
