^^^ The character name of the woman in the Fever Ray video is 'Demona Lisa' which is brilliantly witty, but thankfully now consigned to the last page.
The new DM album Memento Mori is out next week and they've released another taster. It's very very dark, but to these cloth-ears their best in over 15 years. And it reminds me of 'Colours' by the Sisters Of Mercy.
We need something more uplifting, so being as Cherry Pie was mentioned in the eating thread earlier, here's the Underworld song. It's an instrum so no Karl, but to shove it on a b-side is sacrilege.
I blame Mrs M for this, she's been playing the Erasure compilation to death recently and now I've been earwormed. I mean back in the day I did quite like them, but they were always a poor man's Pet Shop Boys in that particular contest. However, and I know I've spoken out against remixes before, but they (Erasure) do remix rather well. So do Dep Mode, and NIN. I digress, here's the best remix of one of their most OTT tunes, having spent the evening researching Erasure remixes...
MoodyBrother has been WhatsApping (is that a word?) me all evening, reminiscing about my record collection of old. In particular he was interested in the KLF stuff, so I happily reminded him of those times.
Two Dep Modes on one page, but it's 30 years today since Songs Of Faith And Devotion was released, and everyone gasped because they'd gone all grungy. Not my favourite era it has to be said, but a decent Meat Beat Manifesto remix is always welcome.
On this day in 1986, Pet Shop Boys released their debut album, and a bloody fine album it was too. But which track be best? West End Girls? Opportunities? Suburbia? No. This one...
My 4 disc Punk and New Wave compilation that resides in the car is annoying me because Disc 3 is playing up. It pops and skips it's way through several tracks midway through, but did settle down by track 12. Which is a long forgotten pre-big hit goodie...
There's something terribly wrong with Jim Kerr's face...
