The builders are starting work on my dining room on Monday, I'm dreading all the mess and noise but glad it's finally being done. When the previous owners built the extension it was constructed with single walls of thermalite blocks which mean it's much colder than the rest of the house and it causes condensation problems. The builders are going to take it back to bare walls then construct an interior stud wall with timber fitted with insulated expanded foam panels before plaster boarding and skimming the walls and replacing the coving and skirting boards, it also means all the plumbing and electrics have to be altered and a fitted cupboard re-modelled! scared1
Over the last week I've boxed everything up that was in the dining room, emptied the cupboards and then earlier in the week a friend helped me move all the furniture out so other than the carpet, which will be removed tomorrow, the room is totally empty. Each day something else has been relocated elsewhere in the house which the cats aren't happy about. they look at me as if it say 'Mum what's happening, where's all the furniture, what's going on? Well you can't have an omlette without breaking eggs and I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end (or so I keep telling myself)
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
It will be worth it in the end DD. I expect that when the builders start constructing the interior wall, you'll be surprised how quickly it's done....electrics and plumbing aside. You've done the hard prep by clearing out the room.
Sort of a reference to building work - the people opposite are having a new kitchen installed and I have been admiring a very nice carpenter in shorts ... who is assisting. big grin
