I was reading an article in one of the Sunday Papers where an author was recommended that I had not read for many years. 'A Long Way To Shiloh' by Lionel Davidson is a cracking good book. I have that one but not his others so I think I will need to visit the library this week. What book that you read a long time ago would you recommend?
The Ginger Tree by Oswald Wynd. The story of a young woman starting married life in the 1900s in Japan and how her life evolves and changes. Written in the 70s. I love it then and I still love it.
Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. The story of a Derbyshire village that closed its borders to stop the plague from spreading. Its a fairly easy and quick read despite the subject matter.
Both feature strong women at the centre.
Also Wives of Fisherman by Angela Huth. Real twists and turns.
The Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake - I've re-read these books about once every ten years since I was in my early 20s and love them. Far superior to J.R.R. Tolkien, imo.
I suppose I do the same with the Jeeves and Wooster books by P.G. Wodehouse - they still make me cry with laughter - I'm very shallow, I don't do serious books.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
Having had it sitting on my Kindle for at least a couple of years, it was probably a cheapie at the time, I've just started reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Enjoying it so far....
But I think I will have to start rereading some of my first books on the Kindle as most of my favourite authors have become rather pricey! I'm sure Amazon have been surreptitiously raising their prices over the years!

On my new Kindle I am deleting books as I read them ( onto the cloud) as I had far too many on the old one and could never find the one I was looking for inspite of putting them into groups etc.
