Please update Yorko. It will be more interesting than Jeremygate. I just got back from some shopping and on the tv (ITV I think it was) they had 'Clarkson Crisis' as a headline.
I don't know what really happened and what was said between the two combatants leading up to the 'smack in the chops', so am loathe to give an opinion. But I am surprised that no-one thought to provide some catering facilities if they had been filming all day in the cold.
I do watch Top Gear on occasion when nothing else is on, particularly when they are doing a long road trip in another country. Just to see what mess they get themselves in, mostly set up by the producers, and what tricks they play on each other. But having read that their contracts finish this month and that they haven't yet signed new ones makes me think they may well be planning to leave the Beeb anyway...for a more lucrative offer elsewhere. Unless he's gets prosecuted for assault, I would think this is water off a duck's back for Clarkson, as he is an arrogant man! I personally prefer the other two, particularly Richard Hammond.
I haven't watched Top Gear for years, it went the way of all long running shows and faded in my mind. Clarkson can be entertaining but is generally a boorish prat IMO. The BBC need to make a stand this time, he's had enough warnings and considering he gets paid millions from our licence fees....
I don't watch Top Gear, and I have no feelings either away about Clarkson, but I do wonder if this 'leak' isn't just The Beeb trying to get rid of him. We actually dont know what has transpired, it's all hearsay and speculation ATM. Bearing in mind WE fund the Beeb, I think it would be shortsighted of them to get rid of a programme that's their top earner. Either way, I doubt he'll give a stuff, he'll just go to Ch4 or 5 in a new format of Top Gear and they'll be raking it in.
If he's reinstated then it's condoning his behaviour. He's been reprimanded before and already had a warning, I think, so the BBC should stick to their guns and find another presenter. No one thought that Countdown could continue without Richard Whiteley, but it has done, and I'm sure that Top Gear will not suffer just because he's no longer at the helm.
