Cwtch (hug) and KittyLicks from daDen. My vet's excellent - they let me pay a little each week for Tiddles (diabetic) when Snarly was dirtPoor. They made a fuss over da CanuckKitty. When I took Thnarly to daVet the week we adopted each other, they didn't charge anything for the check-up as she was a RescueKitty.
She's in her favourite place on the arm of my chair, surveying her territory through the patio windows as I write Mim. She had the drain removed yesterday by a very nice gentleman vet, who took time to explain the procedure and post op care to me (stable door and horse came to mind). I expressed my disappointment at the initial treatment we'd received after the procedure and he seemed very surprised that a vet hadn't done the handover with care instructions. No apologies were forthcoming however, and as nice as this one was, I'm still inclined to change practices for anything in the future.
On the plus side, my little girl is much happier now that the drain has gone and the wound has stopped dripping. I could tell that she was fretting because of the constant discharge. She's such a clean little thing, she obviously thought she was making a mess, bless her! Lots of cuddles and extra spoiling has been appreciated. LOL
Good to hear she's on the mend Cariad but it's not on that the vet didn't offer an apology. Do you have to go back again, if so why don't you re-iterate your concerns re the treatment handover and ask him politely to look into it and then give you feedback?
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
Really good to hear she's on the mend. Best news possible.
The other vet should have apologised. Its not good enough that you left there without proper care and attention. Had Elizabeth got worse, it might have been because you weren't given clear instructions on how to look after her.
Whether you decide to leave or stay, I would still be inclined to write a letter of complaint. It might just make that particular vet think about how they deal with patients and their owners in the future.
I half expected my practice to ask me to leave after my debacle but the head vet actually asked me not to. But my problem wasn't about the care I had received so its different. I'm absolutely certain though that the vet I did complain about writes full and clear notes now lol.
