Last week had 3 calls from different numbers advising me that a £600 transaction had taken place - As I never converse with the callers it goes nowhere ...
[font size="1and then I block the numbers ...[/font]
The Amazon ones are bliddy nuisance on a weekly basis now. I get about 3-4 a week using a different set of numbers, which I actually think makes the scam more obvious. As soon as I hear the American accent ......
The Microsoft one came through on my landline, which is an ex-directory number, so it must have been a random dial but once I’d picked it up twice they presumably kept trying until I actually spoke - hence my “playing” with them.
One of my mobiles is the number I give to certain sites that I order from and I get at least two phone calls a day which I assume are spam as all the people I want to speak to are in my contacts, including company ones, and so when an unknown number comes up I answer it, but say nothing. They hang up within a couple of seconds and then I block them. I guess that some companies pass numbers to others. If that’s the case the chancers will get no joy from me.
If a company wants to contact me about an order, they usually email me.
'Number Withheld' used to be a giveaway that a rubbish call was trying to get through so I never picked up until I got a stroppy letter from the hospital complaining they had been trying to get in touch with me.
When I was with Talktalk I could block scam callers numbers without even answering them but with Plusnet I have to answer it so it register's as the last number that called before I can block them but I get around that by not speaking
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
The only problem with Plusnet is it suddenly says the option is full. Then you have spend half an hour deleting a large batch, hoping most of the numbers have been deserted by the scammers, seems to work okay.

Needless to say the scammers are out in force with Black Friday coming up. They have just phoned me to tell me there is suspicious activity on my Amazon account. Twerps!

Good one this morning via email where Paypal ‘ Requierd‘ action as my account had been compromised. They also addressed me with a small c, Dear customer. Thank goodness I was given a good grounding in English grammar.
Just had a text allegedly from GOVUK telling me I’m due a tax rebate of £246.84. They ask me to click a link to proceed with receiving the money. There is at least one typo. Not fecking likely! 😠

I had one similar to this last year. Like you, I clicked nothing but I rang the relevant GOVUK department and reported it (as well as checking that I wasn’t due a refund. 😉) Clearly the action that they said they’d take didn’t work. 😳
