I don't see that being allowed. It's illegal to travel abroad for holidays, and only legal if essential for business etc. I don't think football falls into either of those categories.
I hear there's been an idea of playing the final in this country, after all it's an all England final*. They can't play Wembley on the 29th because the Championship play-off final is already booked there for that date, but why not a stadium midway between Chelsea and Manchester - say Leicester?
*The uproar over this is that Turkish and Polish fans (the final was to be in Poland originally) would be denied possibly a once in a lifetime chance of seeing a CL Final. Which is bollox in my opinion.
If it was in this country, it would be one of these ideal test events with fans for covid rules. Could they not use the stadium that covered while Wembley was being built, in Wales wasn't it?
Wherever it ends up there is going to be upset fans.
There's been some gnashing of teeth apparently over the FA's decision to change the 3 Lions logo.
It's all in the name of diversity, so now we have a lion, a lioness and a lion cub.
In a statement, the FA said: 'A cub, lion and lioness unite to form the new England Football crest with no boundaries; representing everyone at every level of football across the country.'
This, the FA adds, 'symbolises progression, greater inclusivity and accessibility in all levels of the beautiful game; from grassroots to elite.'
Well well... apart from the news of some countries to be put on the govt. green list of places we will be allowed to travel, three new destinations are going on the red list...
...more countries are being added to the red list - from which travel is banned - from next Wednesday. These are Turkey, Maldives and Nepal.
This means that Man City and Chelsea football fans will not be able to travel to Istanbul for the Champions League final.
The BBC understands from the government that talks are under way with the FA and UEFA to bring the match to the UK instead.
