Tink, I am so, so sorry about Alf. He fought as hard as he could, poor love. I know it was the right thing to do for him but it doesn't make it any easier, does it? Sending lots of love and to you and Harvey. Thinking of you xx
Thanks to everyone for your kind words and thoughts and messages. It means so much.
Harvey is seriously on the fritz but that's Harvey really. Bag of nerves. He knows the basket has been in evidence. He knows Alfie went in the basket and hasn't come back. He also knows he usually next for the basket. I dare not bring the bloody basket in to the house so I've left it in my boot.
Very sad news Tinks, but Alf fought it to the bitter end without complaint, even trying to eat those fish bits, so you must be so proud of him for that.
It might have been a short life for a cat, but I think it was a very happy one so enjoy remembering the good times.
Aren't people lovely? I've had so many messages and emails. I've had potted daffodils and a positive swathe of dwarf irises I can plant. I've even had cards. Suggestions for things I can remember him by and what others have chosen to do.
Harvey has had toys, a plush blanket and a food parcel with cat treats, catnip and prawns.
When our old boy died, shortly after moving here, we had him cremated, and when we had the garden landscaped, we buried his ashes under a ligustrum. Every time I see how it's thriving, I think of him and it makes me smile because he was rather partial to 'watering' the garden for us.
Awww how lovely. Thank you all. I received a rose today that I will plant in the next few weeks. I have plenty of space in my recently renovated garden. A friend for life is the name. Pink flowers. Looks so pretty.
I am really touched. Brought me to tears but that's not difficult at the mo.
Managed to sort all the vets bills today. Had to check the limit on my credit card to make sure I could charge it all! Sorted things with the cremation peeps as well. Pleased that I've done that with a fair attempt at keeping the blubbing to a minimum.
Although the rose is a remembrance from all of us it was organised by a very special lady on here (who shall remain nameless as I suspect she will kill me if I tell)
I felt the same when I lost Katie, it's so hard especially when they've been a part of your life for a long time. Thankfully you've got the lovely Harvey who although not replacing Alf must be a comfort for you, it will take time but it does get easier
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
Mr Nell used to have a picture of our last surviving cat, Wilson, as his screen saver but replaced it with a succession of guitars, N gauge model trains and friends' kittens as it was too sad to look at it daily.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.

When FP Major got married they had a slide show running at the Reception and he wanted pictures of our first cat, Top Cat, in it. He was born when she was seven. My mother was terrified she would suffocate him in the pram so she bought a proper old cat net like a tennis net for the pram. Top Cat would sit on top of the hood and guard him when he was out in the pram in the back garden.
