!! That's the third year in a row they have "forgotten" to send out my new card or the darned thing has been "lost in the post". They really pip me off as they're quick enough to keep taking my money. At least this time they were quick to accept it was their fault ... they have previously denied all knowledge of taking my money and suggested I may have been committing fraud by using an exipired card.
I shouldn't have to chase them up every time. And this time I've had to pay for my prescription and then claim it back when the card rocks up. That doesn't cause me too much earache but for others it flipping well might.
Daddy Tink got his bus pass. But its no use to him. There's a bus from his village to the local town early in the morning but that's it for the day. There are two buses back but the nearest stop to Daddy Tink is 1.5 miles away. All uphill! He doesn't use da bus lol.
I got free prescriptions when I was 60, two years before I retired (well, semi-retired) at 62. The first time I needed medication I started filling the prescription in. The chemist said "You don't need to fill in the back." When I asked why (because I hadn't twigged as it was the first prescription I'd had for years) she glanced round the chemist shop, saw other customers, leant towards me and whispered "Because you're a pensioner." Obviously a closely guarded secret then.
The next time they asked me for £7ish, or whatever the cost was, and I stated that I didn't need to pay. The assistant asked why and I said "because I'm an O.A.P." She then said (very loudly) "no, you aren't ... you can't be 60!" Very flattering, I know, (those High Street beauty creams must be working) but I simply said (so the rest of the shop could hear) "well, I can assure you that I am because I was there when I was born." Luckily I've not needed a prescription since then.
I had my heating allowance in November, which was a nice surprise, but I haven't applied for a bus or travel pass.
