It's the bus with a huge Lancashire witch on the side that goes from I think Burnley all the way to Manchester stopping off at the East Lancashire towns before it goes onto the M66. You can't miss it!
You are so lucky to have buses that actually go somewhere. We have a bus going to Braintree on a Wednesday (via the scenic route, takes hours and then you have about an hour before it returns. A couple of buses a day going to Saffron Walden and that's it... When I first moved here there was a bush service going to Cambridge but that terminated about 12 miles from the city . Needless to say I didn't bother with a bus pass.
The buses here are pretty good unless you want to use them in rush hour and then they're highly likely to be late or just not turn up. But if I'm going into town on a Saturday or if I have a day off I'll take the bus. I need to be in for more than two hours though or its cheaper to drive and pay to park.
It is quite a walk from where I am to find a bus going somewhere other than round bits of the town. The last time I got a bus was just before elder son started secondary school. He went to the Grammar in Chelmsford and we all got the bus one day so that he knew what to look out for when it was nearly time to get off and where the return bus went from! He's now 23 so it's been a while.
I'm sure you are right Toril. I didn't qualify for my pension til last November although I have deferred it while I'm still working.
Nellie, I think you only get the heating allowance automatically once they are actually paying your state pension and you are on their radar? I deferred my state pension as I was still working full time, didn't bother about the allowance the first couple of years, but when I did I had to physically claim it. It's came automatically after that.
You should be entitled to it this year and the claim form appears on their website around August I think?
Until recently men and women both got the heating allowance at 60 even though the men didn't get their state pension until they were 65 but the rules have now changed
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
