I've not added a recipe here for a while on account of the fact I've not cooked much.
Chicken Balti
You will need: 2 chicken breasts or 400g diced chicken 1 jar of Lidl Deluxe Balti Sauce 1 cup of pilau or basmati rice
1. I used diced chicken because it saves the hassle of having to dice the breasts yourself and you get 50g more. Brown off the diced chicken in a frying pan for about ten minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Add powdered balti style seasoning (found in a plastic tub on top of the jar) and fry for another 3 minutes.
3. Add Balti Sauce from jar to chicken and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring now and then.
4. Boil up one large cupful of pilau rice, or basmati if you don't have pilau in, simmer for about 15-20 minutes till rice is fluffy. Do not use Lidl own brand long grain as this will congeal into a starchy mass of gloop and will not be pleasant. A sachet of Uncle Ben's is probably a better way all round.
5. Plate up and enjoy, serves 2.
6. Serve with several cold beers.
Note: This is Korma Sauce. Korma is repulsive however posh the jar, but there was no image for the Balti and I forgot to take my own photo. It's in a sort of turquoise logo.
Again, not my image as I'd half eaten mine before I remembered. This one would be quite similar without the green bits in it.
Our Lidl needs bigger premises, it has been where it is since they opened in the UK. They have tried to revamp since popularity grew, making it cramped to manoeuvre. Their underground car park was altered to match, nightmare!
I would imagine they are having a good think, because Aldi's plans for a new store are in for approval now, if approved it will open next year and only be about a mile away.
We’ve got two Lidls near me and both have wide aisles. I’ve been a few times recently and it’s been fine and fairly quiet. We’ve also got a large new Aldi on the outskirts of town, but I’ve only popped in there twice because Lidl is closer.
You will need: 2 eggs, pref. large Grated cheddar cheese, amount to own taste 2 rounds of bread Salt and pepper Brown sauce (optional)
1. Break two eggs into a bowl, mix with a fork, add cheese and season. 2. Bung into microwave for 1 minute. 3. Stir and cook for another 30 secs. Do not overcook or the eggs will go rubbery. 4. Toast the two rounds of bread, I use a toaster but a grill or fireplace will work. If using fireplace method, put eggs in microwave after toasting bread or the eggs will be stone cold by the time the toast is ready. 5. Place scrambled egg on toast, garnish with brown sauce if you like brown sauce, avoid if not. 6. Put water in egg bowl before eating or the residue egg will weld itself to the side of the bowl and you'll never get it off.
As usual, I forgot to take my own photo, so here's a similar one.
