At one time the BBC was my go-to channel for news, but not anymore. Allegations that the corporation lacks impartial and objective journalism are regularly made by the left and right of the political spectrum.

Your thoughts?

And will continue to rise every April till 2025 at the rate of inflation - then the BBC and the government will cook up another scheme to boost income. At the same time, over 75s are about to lose their free licence and will have to pay up like everyone else.

It is very very tempting to stop paying as there is absolutely chuff all worth watching on the BBC these days. Quite why they're above all other channels who use advertising to fund themselves is beyond me. Adverts are a pain but you can pause your programme for a few minutes before it starts, then skip through the ads when they come on.

I favour Sky News these days and I rarely watch anything on the Beep other than the 'Heads Up' mentions of the odd drama on this forum. Once they were renowned for their dramas, now the criticism is they can't even get that right with poor sound and lighting.

Or pause when the ads come on while you nip outside to inspect the patio and fast forward on return. I've heard of people doing this.
