Only you could come up with that picture MrM, although I do confess to liking pigeon.
They had just been fed in that photo lily. Due to size, they now sit on either side of the nest during the day and cuddle up in the evening. They are virtually full grown when they fledge in next couple of weeks, there is already a lot wing action.
I was worried to find the nest empty this morning. The little devils have climbed through the evergreen shrub and are sitting in the tree above. They had better cling on well when being fed, look out below! Hopefully, they will return to the nest tonight, could be stormy in the early hours tomorrow.
Not wildlife, but definitely garden, unless you count the cats, but the Honeysuckle is in bloom on the balcony and the perfume is absolutely knockout, though rather dialled-down in the last 5 minutes when I had to light the mosquito coils..
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
I had my suspicions, but they were confirmed a short time ago …… I have blackbirds nesting in my leylandaii hedge. 🙂
I heard a dreadful commotion and went outside to find the male blackbird dive bombing a neighbour’s cat, which thankfully shot off (closely followed by me. 😉) The blackbird seemed to settle down but then went up onto my roof and started its warning call again. 😳 I could also hear the sound of the fledglings in their nest near me. I assumed the dad was still on alert for the cat but then he shot off like a rocket into my oak tree. There was a heck of a lot of squawking and a few birds seemed to be flying around in the tree. I then spotted a magpie being chased by the blackbird and a couple of other ones. 👍
I can guarantee that now, every time I hear that warning sound, I’ll be outside like a shot because I want the blackbirds to raise their young to adulthood, without any being harmed or worse.
