No chance. I worry about them, especially the littlest one. I hope he will survive winter. I'm going to create nesting areas in the bottom of the garage wardrobe tomorrow. It seems to be their preferred location & I understand that as the wardrobe is on dinky legs so it's off the cold concrete floor. A few boots on their sides, a square planter -whatever I can find. I'm not sure how many are around us. I have seen them in pairs, but I know there are at least three by their sizes. Anyway, supper is served and two are munching away
You're doing a grand job looking after these hedgehogs Liv keep up the good work!
We have lots of people in the village who rehome hogs needing a safe garden to live in after they've been rehabilitated by the wildlife rescue and it's so lovely to see their video footage showing their progress
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
Perhaps you could put some dry leaves, hay, shredded paper etc on the floor near the wardrobe as well Liv, they like making their own nests. Perhaps the one in the recycling could be lowered gently into another bag containing some packing?
A hog has been busy pulling the lining out of one of the now bulging boots Frazz, while we have another resident in one of the wellington boots that's lying on its side in the wardrobe. I think the other one, the semi-detached wellie, is unoccupied. I've put an old towel inside inside a square planter that is sited under the workbench on woodblocks to raise it off the concrete floor. It's sideways on (We Want Privacy!) so I don't know if that's occuppied. I've put a old hand towel behind his drill carry box whatsit that sits in the wardrobe and again, I don't know if that space it now residential. Shredded paper is a good idea. I'll get on to it tomorrow
There was a no-show of the hogs last night. Hopefully, they are hibernating. I'll go into the garage later and see if we have squatters.
Edit: Dang! Scrub that ^. The baby hog is wandering around the garden. He's only the size of a large orange so I guess he's not put on enough weight to go into full hibernation. I put down some cat food, but I did not see him eat it. Ruby was sitting on the step looking very smug though
They say if a hedgehog is out and about during the day it should be a concern, I expect it's trying to fatten itself up before hibernating but it might be a good idea to consult a hedgehog rescue to see what they think

We took the baby to Hog Hospital. A little girl -Celia, weighing 20.40 (I don't know what that is in real money). Celia has a suspected broken jaw. She was put in a heat chamber with water. The woman who runs the centre will send a video to the vet tonight
She's definitely in the right place now hopefully they can sort out her jaw and fatten her up, being that small I doubt she'd have gotten through the winter even without any injuries
