Tomorrow is the final day of the PL season (yes lily, I know you'll be upset).
Tonight however was the Championship play-off final to see who joins Burnley and Sheffield Utd in their promotion to the PL.
FT Luton 1-1 Coventry (Luton win 6-5 on pens)
An excellent result, Coventry like Notts Forest are local Leicester rivals and being as we're good as sunk, a Coventry promotion on top of Forest surviving would have been hard to take. There was concern in the first half as Luton captain Tom Lockyer collapsed and was stretchered off and rushed to hospital. Seems he's responding and is going to be ok though. We now have to learn new names such as Joe Taylor, Dan Potts and Marvelous Nakamba.
So today's the day when we find out who's staying up and who's destined for the misery of trips to Sunderland and Ipswich and Cardiff next season.
To recap, here's what we know so far...
Man City are Champions again after The Gunners blew it so dramatically in the final weeks. Man Utd join The Al-Geordies in the European Champions League along with the top two. Liverpool left it too late for CL action and will play in the fixture-heavy Europa League. Villa according to one "fan" at the FOF actually want to lose today and Spurs to win so that positions are swapped and they don't have to play the even more tedious Europa Conference League. I suspect they're cacking themselves over facing Maccabi Tel Aviv, Bruno's Magpies or Connah's Quay Nomads. The useless shysters.
I'm off to try and recover some scarves to wave later, I only have access to the Villa smiley for now.
I feel sorry for Leicester particularly but pleased Everton managed to hang on by the skin of their teeth! Can't imagine not having Merseyside derbies.
It may be the Europa Conference, Bruv, but at least we are in a European tournament. AND STILL IN THE PREMIER
Yes Sis, but as I noted in my earlier post, you will be trotting round Europe facing the likes of F91 Dudelange and Haverfordwest County in pursuit of a meaningless cup which will drastically interfere with your home fixtures. We on the other hand have to travel no further than Plymouth.
Villa 2-1 Brighton Disgraceful display from the Seagulls, given they've had such a good season, no excuse for failure like this. Villa finish 7th and beat Spurs to the Europa Conference League of Shysters.
Chelsea 1-1 Newcastle Bit of an anti-climax for The Geordies, taking the lead early on only for "Player of the Season" Keiran Tripier to turn the ball into his own net. Newcastle were already safely in the Champions League though so it doesn't matter. He might a dozen lashings off Mohammed bin Salmon for his infidelic behaviour but that's about it. The Toon finish 4th.
Southampton 4-4 Liverpool I mean WTAF?? The Saints scored more today than for most of the season against The Scousers who seem to be adopting Leicester's methods of defence. Hugely entertianing for the neutrals I suspect, and nice to see Bobby Firmino on the scoresheet in his last game for Liverpool. Obviously Southampton were already down and out, Liverpool meanwhile face the tedium of Europa League (proper) football next term having finished 5th. Wow.
Leicester 2-1 West Ham We played brilliantly, especially the first half. In the second nerves took hold but despite The Hammers netting an unlikely goal, we could not have done more. And then it was a case of waiting four agonising minutes to find out if Bournemouth could snatch a draw off Everton. They couldn't thanks to Jordon fecking Pickford who's so unreliable in an England shirt yet saved an absolute screamer from The Cherries which would have seen us through and The Toffees relegated. As it was, we finished 3rd from bottom which isn't good enough. I blame the board for sacking Brenda too late, they should have dumped him months ago or kept him on to see the job through. Big changes required next season.
