Now there's a thought, though I think current thought is the winter solstice may have been more important than the summer solstice for the people who built and used Stonehenge.
I haven’t had any spiders in the house for a couple of years (ones that deign to show themselves anyway.) Last week I had two pretty sizeable ones that ran across the lounge carpet. Last night there was a mahoosive one in the bath which was about 3” including its legs. 😳. If they keep getting bigger then I’ll have ones the size of dinner plates soon.
My cats used to pat them and the spiders just shot off. They obviously didn’t fancy eating them. 🙄 I use my own method of dealing with them. 😉 The one last night was enormous. 😳
Thankfully not that big, although I’d probably cope with one of those better than the house spiders because they don’t scuttle across the carpet as quickly. It was about 3” from end to end. Big enough thanks. 😳 Yuck.

Could do with that, since we've had spiders in the bath lately!
Not exactly in the garden, but maybe they came from the garden :P .
I am really aching after a week of lifting & levelling slabs in the lawn. I've got two full bags of surplus soil to prove it! I intend deep forking then lifting the turf to brush sifted soil into the holes I make to level out the dips. When I reached the bottom of the garden I noticed a few wasps hovering around & had a little look around. As suspected there was a hole in the ground near the fence where they were lazily buzzing in and out. I had to go within and few feet of it, but didn't turn my back to it not did I tamp down those particular slabs.
